School of Emotions: What Does It Mean to Be a Good Friend?

11 July 2026, 13:00–14:00

Friendship is one of the most important social skills children develop. But being a good friend means more than simply playing together. It also means listening, understanding feelings, showing kindness, respecting boundaries and resolving small disagreements calmly.

In this warm and engaging workshop, children will explore what true friendship looks like. Through games, stories, role play, creative activities and guided discussion, they will learn how to recognise emotions, express their own feelings and respond thoughtfully to others.

Together, we will explore questions such as:

How can I show a friend that they matter to me?
Why is listening so important?
How can I help someone who feels sad?
What can I do when we disagree?
How do I apologise and make things right?
Why do personal boundaries matter in friendship?
How can I tell the difference between a funny joke and a hurtful one?

The workshop supports empathy, confidence, emotional intelligence and communication skills. Children will practise talking about their feelings without shouting or blaming, finding fair solutions and showing care for others.

The session is designed to feel playful rather than instructional. Children will not simply be told what to do. They will explore everyday situations, discuss different choices and discover positive solutions together. This makes it easier to use the new skills in real life — at school, in clubs, at home and with siblings.

After the workshop, children may find it easier to make friends, maintain relationships, express their needs and cope with disappointment or conflict.

All materials are provided. No previous experience is required. Places are limited, and advance registration is required.
